Young adults still want partnership and parenthood despite falling fertility
A first-of-its-kind UNFPA survey of adults aged 18 to 39 across 73 countries, including India, finds that young people are not turning away from relationships or family life even as marriage rates decline and fertility hits historic lows. Marriage remains a common ideal, though respondents say their decisions are increasingly shaped by constraints.
