Director H Vinoth confirmed that Vijay's Jana Nayagan is roughly 50% inspired by the 2023 Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, with 60% overlap in the first half and 20% in the second. Releasing July 23 after a seven-month delay, it marks the actor's farewell film before politics; Vijay is now Tamil Nadu chief minister. It co-stars Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol.
