Supreme Court raps insurers for vague policy wording that dodges claims
The Supreme Court on Monday said insurers often draft ambiguous and sloppy policies to escape liabilities they should bear, leaving ordinary policyholders to suffer and slowing motor accident compensation claims. A bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and N. Kotiswar Singh said standard-form contracts must use clear, precise language, and that any cover for extra-territorial jurisdiction must be spelled out explicitly.
