One dead, 27 feared trapped in South Sikkim tunnel collapse
A landslide sealed the under-construction Samardung tunnel at Mamring in South Sikkim on Monday afternoon, and the NDRF said one body had been recovered with 27 workers still feared trapped. A methane leak released by the slide has slowed the rescue, with some responders reported dizzy or unconscious. The tunnel is being built by Patel Engineering for NHPC's Teesta Stage VI hydro project.
