Official says Indus Waters Treaty cannot resume in its current shape
A senior Indian official told journalists on Monday that the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty needs review and renegotiation and will not function again in its present form, saying any revival of river-sharing provisions must take a different shape. India suspended the treaty after the April 2025 Pahalgam attack. The official also argued the move sets no precedent for China's Brahmaputra dam.
