Information Commission orders IITs to set up student suicide prevention panels
The Central Information Commission has directed the IITs to constitute high-level committees recommending measures to prevent student suicides, and to publish details of those panels on their official websites. The order came while disposing of RTI appeals by Dheeraj Kumar Singh, an IIT-Kanpur alumnus running a student mental health NGO, who sought figures for such deaths at four IITs since 2005.
