Almost all countries overuse 'watch' antibiotics, Lancet study finds
Almost every country is overusing 'watch' antibiotics, stronger drugs that should be reserved for infections resistant to simpler medicines and that most drive antibiotic resistance, a study in The Lancet Public Health found. It also found 60% of countries still prescribe antibiotics the World Health Organization says should be dropped. The authors urged national policies to curb unnecessary prescribing while preserving access.
